Hans van Drunen got his first music lessons on a cornet from his father at the age of 8. The lessons were being continued at the music school by horn player Louis Huigen en trumpet player Raymond Vievermans. Later on he became a member of Harmonie St. Michael in St. Michielsgestel and Andels Fanfarecorps in Andel, as a trumpet and bugle player. Both orchestras have their roots in the province of North-Brabant.

At the age of 24 Hans moved on to the tenor and alto-trombone. De first following two years he attended lessons from Willem Gerritsen, after that he got private lessons for three years from Kees Blokker, who was the principal trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at that time, two years from Ivan Meylemans the principal trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at this moment and one year from Herman Nass principle trombonist of Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1996 Hans began a landscape gardener company of its own, therefore music receded into the background.

In the period of 1993 - 1997 Hans participated in soloists events for amateurs of the national association KNFM at the highest level. He played for example Concertino of Larsson, Concertino of Spisak, Concert for trombone of Grondahl and the Ballade of Frank Martin. Later on he played the Concertino of Larsson also with Brassband Harp en Luit from Vuuren.

From 1995 - 1997 Hans was a member of Trombone Quartet Trombonism in 's Hertogenbosch.

Nowadays Hans is the principal trombonist of Harmonie Koningin Wilhelmina, a symphonic wind orchestra in Wamel. In the year 2006 he has played Concerto pour Trombone (2,03MB) of Serge Lancen with this orchestra. Beside Quispel trombone quartet and Harmonie Koningin Wilhelmina, he is a regular guest player in several amateur symphony orchestra's in the region.

In everyday life Hans runs a landscape gardener company of its own, which is specialised in designing and laying out gardens. He also teaches in classes for colleague gardener companies, in which he educates the use of professional software for calculation and specialised software like Autocad.
